Dr. Ayşe Güç graduated with high honors from Uludağ University Faculty of Theology in 2003. She continued her master’s studies in the Department of Sociology of Religion at the same university and received her master’s degree in 2007 with a thesis titled “The Impact of Feminist Discourse on Islamist Women Writers.” Between 2006 and 2008, she worked as a research assistant at Uludağ University. In 2008, her application for doctoral studies at the Australian Catholic University was accepted. In her doctoral research, Güç examined cultural attachment by focusing on the relationships among groups living in Mardin. For this study, she conducted three fieldwork periods: short-term fieldwork in 2009 and 2010, and long-term fieldwork in 2011.
