Mehmet Emin Cengiz

Mehmet Emin Cengiz is a researcher at the Istanbul-based international think tank Al Sharq Strategic Research, where his work focuses on Syria, Turkey, and the broader Middle East. He received his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Ege University in 2016 and completed his master’s degree in Middle Eastern Sociology and Anthropology at Marmara University in 2020. During his undergraduate studies, he studied as an international exchange student at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in Germany through the Erasmus+ Program. Cengiz’s articles on Turkish foreign policy, the Syrian crisis, and non-state armed actors have been published in national and international media outlets as well as think tanks. Research Interests: Syrian Crisis, Non-State Armed Actors, Turkish Foreign Policy, Foreign Volunteers, and Regional Kurdish Politics.
