Selim Akburak

He comes from a Circassian family that settled in Kayseri after exile from the Caucasus in the 1890s. After completing his middle and high school education at imam hatip schools in Kayseri, he was assigned in 1995 to serve in religious affairs in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic through the Kayseri Caucasus Association and at the invitation of Mufti Pshihaçe Shafiğ Bey. He graduated from the Karachay-Cherkess Higher Islamic Institute. Since 2015, he has been serving as the coordinator of the North Caucasus region, which consists of 10 republics, assigned by the Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey. He also holds the position of Deputy Head of the Religious Administration of Muslims in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic. Since 1995, he has worked as an instructor in various courses such as history of religions and Qur’an education, as well as serving as an imam hatip and coordinator. He is currently the founder and inspector of 65 Qur’an courses in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic.
