Dr. Serhan Afacan, a faculty member at the Institute of Middle Eastern and Islamic Countries Studies at Marmara University, received his M.A. from Leiden University in 2009 with his thesis titled “Occidentalism in the Age of Orientalism: Muhammad Iqbal and the West” and his Ph.D. in 2015 with the dissertation “State, Society and Labour in Iran, 1906-1941: A Social History of Iranian Industrialization with Reference to the Textile Industry.”
Dr. Afacan has published numerous national and international articles, book chapters, and conference papers on modern Iranian history. His research focuses on modern Iranian history, social history, social movements in Iran, state-society relations, and Iranian politics. He is proficient in English, Persian, and Arabic.
Platform: Agenda of the Muslim World was established within the İLKE Science Culture Education Foundation as a publication organ that aims to follow and analyze the intellectual, political, social, economic and cultural agendas of Muslim societies and to present current and original perspectives on the Muslim world.
