Born in Istanbul in 1990, Zeynep Yılmaz Hava graduated from Maltepe Kadir Has Anatolian High School in 2008. In 2013, she completed her bachelor's degree in translation studies at Boğaziçi University with high honours. In 2017, she received her Master's degree in Cultural Studies from Istanbul Şehir University. In 2023, she completed her sociology PhD at Istanbul Medeniyet University, "Fluid Kitchens: The Relationship between Migration, Food and Culture in Syrian Cuisine in Istanbul-Fatih" in the Sociology PhD Programme of Istanbul Medeniyet University in 2023. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Özyeğin University in TÜBİTAK-1001 "Food, Homemaking, and Social Integration for Syrian Women in Istanbul, Gaziantep, and Hatay". She is also continuing her studies as a translator/editor in the social sciences and literature.
