Prof. Dr. İsmail Güleç was born in Kadıköy in 1970. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Kadıköy, and earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degrees at Istanbul University. He worked as a research assistant at Istanbul University (1996–2005), and later joined Sakarya University as a faculty member (2005–2015). He is currently a faculty member at Istanbul Medeniyet University.
His main fields of study are Old Turkish Literature and Sufi Literature. He has published numerous articles and books in his field. Some of his books include: İsmail Hakkı Bursevi: Ruhü’l-Mesnevi, Kaside-i Masnua, Commentaries and Translations of Masnavi in Turkish Literature, Sadık Vicdani – Hurufism and Bektashism, Chivalry and Knight Education in the Middle Ages (co-authored with Neslihan Demiriz), and Animal Stories from the Masnavi.
